NHTSA Investigates GM's 6.2L V8 Engine Failures! 🚨 Thousands of GM owners report sudden engine failures, prompting NHTSA probe.

GM Issues Customer Satisfaction Program for Faulty 6.2L V8 Engines

General Motors (GM) has recently launched Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) N232413430 to address a significant issue with its 6.2-liter V8 engines. The program, which is not a recall but a voluntary initiative, targets vehicles equipped with the L87 engine that have been found to have oversized lifter bores.

The problem can lead to engine failure and has already resulted in numerous complaints from owners. The CSP involves replacing the faulty engine with a new one to ensure long-term durability and reliability. Those this CSP is only for SUV and Trucks we can only hope there is also another CSP on the LS3 in the Chevy SS Sedan with its common rocker arm failing.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has also opened an investigation into the matter, citing 39 complaints of engine failures that could potentially lead to safety risks. The investigation will focus on determining the scope and severity of the problem.

GM has assured affected customers that they will be contacted directly with more information on how to proceed with the engine replacement. The CSP is in effect until May 31, 2026, and aims to rectify the issue for all impacted vehicles.

We bought a 2020 GMC Sierra AT4 in May 2020 with the 6.2 L engine seizing up December 2020. Four years later, the second engine has now seized up and GM and the dealership are refusing to replace the engine at their cost.
The engine obviously has defects, and the car has been serviced properly at the dealership with all records on file.
We gave GM the CSP program you outlined in your comments and they still will not replace the engine at their cost.
This is a terrible product and the fact GM will not stand behind. Their products is unbelievable. The car has been in the shop for over six weeks and with a contracting business and no offer of a loaner car. It is impacting business.
They misdiagnosed the problem initially and charged us $3100 but all the oil leaked out again after two days
Terrible service and terrible follow up by GM Canada without a resolution in hand.
I would never recommend a GMC truck product to anybody after this fiasco.
